Missions Philosophy

DaySpring’s goal in promoting mission trips is to provide the means of developing a mutually supportive relationship with the missions we support through which God can be glorified, his kingdom advanced, and individual believers – both here and abroad – can be encouraged to grow in their faith.

While financial support of specific missions is a necessary and appropriate part of DaySpring’s involvement, it is only a part of the strong bond that we desire to build with the various missions. As a result, it is our desire to develop a relationship with each supported mission which includes at least the following components:

  1. Financial support (both by the church and individual members; both ongoing and special needs).
  2. Prayer support (on a continual and ongoing basis and for special needs).
  3. Correspondence – involves keeping abreast of the work, accomplishments, needs, goals, desires and dreams of the missionaries in the field, as well as offering support and encouragement.
  4. Work in the field – specific planned events and trips to the various missions with an emphasis on serving the needs which the specific missions have identified.

The specific missions to be supported by DaySpring are determined by the Church leadership from time to time. It is our goal to maintain a continuing and growing relationship with each mission supported, not only financially, but also with direct personal involvement, to the extent feasible, in keeping with the general philosophy stated above. It is also our goal to support a variety of both foreign and domestic missions. While there is no set number of missions that will be supported at any given time, there is general predisposition to provide substantial support to a relatively select few missions, rather than less significant support to a broader range of missions.
